NDPP and NPF endorse resolution on Nagaland United Government

Kohima, August 28 (MExN): The Nationalist Democratic People’s party (NDPP) and the Naga People’s Front (NPF) held separate consultative meetings with respective party members on Saturday.

According to a communiqué from the NDPP Media & Communication Committee, senior party leadership led by the President Chingwang Konyak and NDPP legislators met at the State Banquet Hall, Kohima and took up thorough discussions on a multitude of issues pertaining to the State. 

The Chief Minister is said to have highlighted a plethora of ideas and avenues for the growth of the party and also explained in detail the present political situation in the State as well as the ongoing peace talks between the Government of India and the Naga Political Groups. He further encouraged and challenged the party to work and strive towards achieving the commitments of the NDPP manifesto, the communiqué stated.

It also said that the house reiterated its endorsement of the resolution passed on the July 20 at Dimapur and also welcomed and supported the August 13 joint resolution of the three political parties, the NDPP, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and NPF.

Meanwhile, the NPF’s core committee, elected members, central office bearers, division presidents and central frontals and cells heads during its meeting at the NPF Central Office, resolved to endorse the resolution on the formation of opposition-less government with the nomenclature -Nagaland United Government (NUG). The resolution was signed by the three political parties i.e. NDPP, BJP & NPF on August 11 and 13 respectively. 

“In line with the CEC resolution dated January 31, 2019, particularly Resolution No 6 (i.e. on the Political re-alignment), the meeting re-endorsed the President and the Leader of the NPF Legislature Wing to nominate few members from both the party functionaries and the Legislatures for proper co-ordination,” a press release from the NPF informed on Saturday.

Reiterating its stand for an ‘acceptable, inclusive and an honourable solution’ to the Naga Political Issue, the house also urged upon the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) and WC, NNPGs to arrive to a logical conclusion to the on-going political talks.

The house also appealed to the rest of the Naga National Groups who are yet to join the peace process to re-consider their stand in the interest of the Naga people.
