The speaker of the occasion, Adv Priya Shyam highlighted on the children’s substance use and abuse which is a concerning issue in today’s time. Stating that substance use destroys a person life and even prescribed medicines cannot be taken in excess, she called on the attention of the parents to communicate with their children and set clear rules and values at home and the reason for avoiding underage drinking or drug use. Shyam said that it is the duty of the parent to monitor and supervise their children.

She educated the participants on section 77 of Juvenile Justice Act 2015 which gives a rigorous imprisonment for a term of 7 years with a fine of Rs 1 lakh for giving intoxicating liquor or any narcotic drug or tobacco products or psychotropic substance to any child, and NDPS Act which is illegal for a person to produce, manufacture, cultivate, sell, purchase, transport, store or consume any narcotic drug or any substance use.
