Speaking at the SBI pre-Christmas programme with the aged and needy of Kohima village recently, Solo regretted that banking culture was still lacking among the Nagas.
In order to develop banking culture in the state, he said, the state government has started disbursing the salary of government employment through bank account only and similarly the payment of scholarship is also routed through the bank account of the students.
He said around 45, 000 students have opened their bank account in Nagaland. Highlighting the advantage of association with the bank and also the need to open bank account by each and every individual, Solo also called upon the people to adopt a saving habit. Later, he requested SBI authority to open SBI branch in Kohima village.
