The Viksit Bharat@2047 District Level Neighborhood Youth Parliament was held at the GHSS Auditorium Hall in Wokha on March 8. The event, orchestrated by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) in collaboration with Government Higher Secondary School, Wokha, resonated with enthusiasm and civic engagement. The occasion was graced by Patrick Tungoe, District Resource Person of Link Worker Scheme (NSACS) Nagaland Users Network Wokha, as the special guest and Shanjamo T Yanthan, a Junior Advocate, as the resource person.

Patrick Tungoe emphasised the significance of establishing a youth parliament during his address to the congregation. He underscored the importance of democratic values and citizenry skills among students, highlighting how participating in such platforms instills a strong sense of responsibility and ownership of societal issues. Tungoe expressed confidence that through active engagement in youth parliament activities, young individuals would emerge as well-informed and proactive agents of change, capable of positively influencing society.

Shanjamo T Yanthan focused on educating participants about the Indian Constitution and its institutions.

During the event, a mock parliament session was conducted, where students from GHSS and Isaiah Ability Higher Secondary School, Wokha participated in the session. At the mock parliament, participants addressed pressing issues such as poverty, millet cultivation, and sports in India.

Yanpothung C Humtsoe, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science at Bailey Baptist College and judge of the session, announced the best speakers of the parliament session.
