Neiphiu Rio greets Sumis on Tuluni Fest

Dimapur, July 6 (MExN): Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio wishes the Sumi community happiness, prosperity and that bonds be strength as the tribe celebrates its premier festival ‘Tuluni.’ A message from the chief minister today wished the festival would contribute to renewal of friendships and strengthening of bonds. “The festival which coincides with a time when the agricultural produce is most bountiful and celebrated with much gaiety, mirth and joy, is also considered the most auspicious time for the betrothed to exchange basketfuls of gifts with meals where the fiancé are also invited to grand dinners at the fiancé’s home and betrothals settled,” Rio explained. “I am sure the this customary festival of the Sumi community practices since time immemorial to renew friendship and strengthen social bonds with each other will continue to be observed with all its fervor in days ahead as have been since the days of the forefathers,” the chief minister said.
