KOHIMA, OCTOBER 2 (MExN): The North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) celebrated its 10th Graduation cum Foundation Day at the Bishop Abraham Memorial Hall, Peace Centre, marking a decade of academic excellence and social leadership.

The event honoured the BSW and MSW graduating class of 2025 and highlighted NEISSR’s journey as a pioneer in social work education. Special Guest Dr Kevezai Tureng, Director, College Development Council (CDC), Nagaland University, encouraged graduates to view their education as a foundation for societal contribution, urging them to uphold integrity, compassion, and courage while navigating life’s challenges.

Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima and Chairman of NEISSR, emphasized the core values of social work, including justice, dignity, integrity, and competence. He called on graduates to become socially responsible leaders and advocates for equity and resilience.
Dr Fr CP Anto, Principal of NEISSR, inspired students to see graduation as a bridge from learning to leading, stressing the importance of adaptability, problem-solving, teamwork, and humility. Outgoing batch speaker Mr Joyba C. Sangtam highlighted personal growth and resilience developed at NEISSR.
The event also recognised outstanding student achievements. Best Student awards went to Visekunu Thol (MSW) and Tsukhari Florance (BSW), while Academic Excellence, Best Research, Best Field Work, Philanthropist, and Best Innovative Practice in Social Work awards were presented to deserving students across BSW and MSW programmes.

The programme featured cultural performances, a special song by the NEISSR Choir, a presentation on NEISSR’s journey, and a vibrant Cultural Fusion performance by trainees. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Rev. Fr. G.L. Khing, Vice Principal & Administrator, NEISSR.
