Dimapur, February 10 (MExN): A ten-day expedition to Mezoma village and Zhavame village was conducted for a team of 68 trainees of North East Institutions of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR), Chümoukedima.
From January 31 to February 9, the trainees explored deep into a rural camp experience, driven by their unwavering commitment to unravelling the intricacies of rural social studies and nurturing self-development and interpersonal bonds through immersive group living.

Organised under the theme ‘Leaving No One Behind’ the trainees were engaged in various activities that included conducting a comprehensive survey of village household, gaining valuable insights into community needs and challenges. “While this survey not only facilitated learning but also fostered understanding of villagers' way of life,” stated a press release received here.
The trainees also engaged in real-world scenarios allowing the trainees to apply theoretical knowledge practically as well as enhancing their learning experience as a case study. The integration of Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) into the curriculum equipped trainees with practical skills for community engagement, emphasizing NEISSR's commitment to cultural sensitivity and social responsibility.
A workshop on quality education and women empowerment was also conducted by the trainees. The rural camp also featured a talent night where the community and the trainees were actively involved showcasing talents fostering camaraderie through shared skills and performances.
A cultural night was celebrated during the rural camp where both the trainees and the community exchanged respective cultural representations through dance, songs, displaying traditional attires and sharing of indigenous cuisines.
