New NSF team to go social media savvy

The new team of Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) while reaffirming to serve the office full-time sought to commit utmost priority for working towards students’ welfare while mechanizing the use of media and setting up a public grievance cell.

During a press meet here at its headquarter office, Naga Club building today, the NSF President, Ninoto Awomi. informed that with the intent to bridge the communication between the Federation and the general public, a new media cell has been set-up. This will be headed by the Assistant General Secretary, Süpuni Ng Philo. 

All official press releases and communiqués will be divulged through the media cell and social media handles will soon be set-up. 

The house has also constituted the Public Grievances Cell, to cater to complaints and suggestions from the public; this cell will also be responsible for filing RTIs. The President informed that grievances thus received will be ensured redressal and suggestions taken thereafter. The hotline number is 8118925589. He also stated that Vice-President, Dievi Yano, has been appointed as Convener and Education and Statistics Secretary, Kegwuyhun Tep, will be Co-convener. 
Meanwhile, the new team reiterated new initiatives and priorities for the tenure. 

Among them, utmost priority has been put towards students’ welfare issues. To this end, the Education and Statistics Secretary stated that it will look at misappropriation of scholarship funds and operate as a strengthening force to the All Nagaland College Students’ Union; look into issues concerning the School Education Department such as proxy teachers, infrastructures and delay in issuance of school uniform among others. 

Meanwhile, the team also told the media attendance that the Nagaland State Government recruitment policies will be scrutinized and lacunas confronting the same will be studied. The body also ascertained that scripting down of departmental examinations will be another priority. 

Affirming its stance on the ongoing Indo-Naga political talks, it noted that it will impress upon negotiating entities for early settlement as well as pressurize the Government of India for the same. 

The NSF official further added that it will initiate earnest efforts for emotional integration of all the Nagas irrespective of all the artificial territorial boundaries. 

The team reaffirmed to follow up on major issues pending before the Federation and also issues confronting the Naga society on a day-to-day basis. 

The HSLC and HSSLC Toppers’ Felicitation programme is scheduled to be held on June 15 at Hotel Japfü, the NSF team informed during the meet.  

The first official meeting after the takeover of the new team was held on May 28.
