
Dimapur, Aug 25: A new school building for the GMS at Naga United village Dimapur was inaugurated by State Project Director (SSA) Nagaland Kohima K. John Lohe on August 25. Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest stated that under SSA all government schools are to be communitized to bring improvement in the education system in the State which can be achieved with the active participation of the community.
He termed SSA as everybody’s baby with the aim of common ownership for quality education. He also said that by 2010 all villages shall at least have presentable school buildings with all facilities and 100% trained teachers under the SSA Scheme.
Altogether 16 government schools in the State are now having computer aided facilities and the rest of the government school in the State will be covered in the near future with such facilities, he added.
While congratulating the school authority and the Village Education Committee for bringing up the building, the chief guest further appealed to the school teachers to play a positive role by understanding the needs of the students, where the teachers have to motivate the students to bridge the gap between the technological world and human world.
Head teacher Neipele Letro in her welcome address stated that the building was constructed with the total grant of Rs. 4, 75,750 under SSA.
Altogether the school is functioning with 14 teachers and a total number of 307 students. It was established in the year 1973, recognized in the year 1981 and communitized in 2002.
Other highlights were shorts speeches by DEO, Dimapur, Vikuto Sumi and special number by the students.
