New science lab and education park to empower students in Phek

Kohima, December 12 (MExN): The Science lab and Education Park, initiated by Phek Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Pritpal Kaur at Phek Government College (PGC) was inaugurated on December 11 under the theme “Educated and Empowered Phek.”

The Science lab comprises microscope, telescope, organism samples, chemistry experiments kits, spectrophotometer, centrifuge, skeleton, other science kits, maps for geography, charts of biology, botany, maths, and other subjects.

Many of the science instruments were donated by MLA Temjenmemba.

Education Park has eight subject models like Rashtrapati Bhavan (Polity), Animal cell (biology), economics model of currency, Literature (library), environment science, morung for cultural studies, ISRO and GSLV model and etc.

These models were made only with waste plastic bottles and wood to showcase waste management in innovative ways.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kaur encouraged everyone to be educated with values to give back to society. Do hard work instead of bad habits of intoxicants, she said.

She also urged upon the students to be innovative to preserve the environment and biodiversity.

She requested everyone to join hands together to make Phek district a role model of no plastic waste and to make it more empowered and educated society for progressive results.

PGC Principal, Dr K Zumomo Ovung appreciated the efforts of everyone and asked them to be sincere in their dealings.

Folk tune was presented by Ravo Rhakho and team. Earlier, Kupeu Mero, Asst Prof invoked God’s blessings. The programme was chaired by Dr Zhokusheyi Rhakho, HOD and Asst Prof (History), PGC.
