Mon, May 30 (MExN): A new Subcentre at Longzang village was inaugurated by the Chief Medical Officer, Mon on May 29. Longzang is a village placed under Phomching Block with a population of 2585 as per 2011 census. The village is also considered to be one of the hard to reach areas under Mon district.
A press release received here stated the inaugural programme began with a ribbon cutting ceremony and unveiling of the plaque by Dr Kechongol Sophie, Chief Medical Officer, Mon.
Speaking at the occasion, Chinge President NDPP 44A/C requested the department to give every facility that a Subcentre requires and to provide manpower.
Dr Tinenlo DTO, Mon shared based on the example of treating the Subcentre “as your own child and not a step-child.” He requested the village leaders and the general public of the village to have sense of ownership and work for the betterment of the centre. He further said that the better the performance, the higher the chance to upgrade the Subcentre.
Explaining on the basic responsibilities of a Subcentre, Bonnie Konyak, District Programme Manager, NHM also said that the Government is focusing more on preventive measures at the Subcentre level.
The performance of the Subcentre will wholly depend on the increase rate of fully immunized children, number of complete Antenatal Checkup (ANC), Village Health Nutrition Day (VHND) and Family Planning, she added.
Concluding the programme, Dr Sophie informed the participants that District Human Resource Committee has appointed a nurse for the new Subcentre so as to make the centre functional until new staffs are appointed.
The programme was chaired by Ngamlo Konyak. Invocation prayer was graced by Y Pemeth, Pastor and the gatheirng was welcomed by a speech by Lohwang, Village Council Chairman.
