Dimapur, March 24 (MExN): North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur under union Ministry of Culture, Government of India organized two-day ‘Border Area Programme’ under the theme of ‘Bridging the Border’ at Sheanghah Chingnyu village and Chenmoho village (Indo Myanmar Border), Mon on March 21 and 22. It was held in collaboration with the Department of Art & Culture, Government of Nagaland.
On March 21 the programme was graced by Imliwabang Aier, NCS, EAC, Longshen, Mon and on March 22 it was graced by Relise Sangtam, NCS, SDO (Civil) Chen, Mon. Altogether 182 artistes from Jharkhand, Bihar, Sikkim, Meghalaya and local troupes participated in the festival.
The cultural troupe presented Chhau/Chhou folk dance from Jharkhand, Jat Jatin and Jhijhia folk dances from Bihar, Tamang Selo folk dance from Sikkim and Wangala folk dance from Meghalaya. The local cultural troupes were also presented their rich and vibrant eye catching folk song and dances.
In a press release, Naba Kumar, Bharali Media Coordinator, Guwahati stated that the North Eastern States share international borders with China, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar and Bangladesh. Border Area Programme is organized by NEZCC Dimapur for the people living along international Border Areas and giving them a chance to participate in the cultural activities. Cultural troupes from other States have also given opportunities to participate in this programme as per press statement by NEZCC official.
