Maligaon, May 20 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway on Wednesday said the modern and passenger-friendly Amrit Bharat Express trains operating from stations in Assam and West Bengal under its jurisdiction have received an overwhelming response from passengers across the country.
According to NFR, the occupancy and earnings figures of the services reflect their growing popularity, affordability, comfort and reliability among passengers.
The Amrit Bharat Express services connecting Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Alipurduar Junction and New Jalpaiguri with major cities across India have recorded high passenger utilisation since their introduction in January 2026.
Several services registered occupancy levels exceeding 100 per cent, indicating strong public demand and increasing passenger preference for the trains, the railway zone said.
At present, seven pairs of Amrit Bharat Express trains originate from Assam and West Bengal under the NFR jurisdiction.
These include Train No. 15671/15672 operating between Kamakhya and Rohtak, Train No. 15949/15950 between Dibrugarh and Gomti Nagar, Train No. 16597/16598 between Alipurduar Junction and SMVT Bengaluru, Train No. 11031/11032 between Alipurduar Junction and Panvel, Train No. 15673/15674 between Kamakhya and Charlapalli, Train No. 20609/20610 between New Jalpaiguri and Tiruchchirappalli and Train No. 20603/20604 between New Jalpaiguri and Nagercoil.

NFR said all the services have been receiving encouraging passenger patronage and are significantly strengthening rail connectivity between the Northeast and different parts of the country.
Among the major performers, Train No. 15671/15672 operating between Kamakhya and Rohtak recorded passenger utilisation of up to 136 per cent.
Similarly, Train No. 15949/15950 connecting Dibrugarh and Gomti Nagar registered occupancy figures exceeding 140 per cent on multiple trips, reflecting growing public confidence in the service.
During the period under review, the Amrit Bharat Express trains carried more than 1.78 lakh passengers and generated earnings exceeding Rs 23 crore, the railway zone said.
Designed primarily for common passengers, the trains offer modern interiors, improved amenities, spacious seating arrangements and economical fares aimed at enhancing travel comfort and convenience.
NFR said the services were also contributing to regional development, tourism promotion and economic integration by improving connectivity between the Northeast and the rest of the country.
The railway zone reiterated its commitment to enhancing passenger amenities and providing safe, efficient and passenger-centric rail services.
