DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 21 (MExN): The Nagaland GB Federation (NGBF) today called on Nagaland State Governor, PB Acharya and submitted a memorandum requesting the latter to officially invite the NSCN (K) led by Khango Konyak for the peace talks at the earliest.
The Nagaland GB Federation was led by its President, Shahlem Konyak.
A press note from the PRO to the Governor, while giving no indication as to the Governor’s response, however informed that the Governor encouraged the federation to continue their tireless work in creating a peaceful atmosphere in the State. He opined that “peace was the need of the hour in the State” while adding that the “peace process was moving in the right direction and hoped that a settlement will be reached at the earliest.”
He further lauded the GBs for “playing a vital role in the governance of the State” and termed them as an “essential component of the State Government.”
He appreciated the efforts of GBs in the State for working towards creating a peaceful atmosphere and contributing towards “Nation building.”
The Governor stated that GBs were the main people to build their villages and called on the members to be agents in informing the targeted people of the various Central and State Government welfare schemes and programmes. This will bring development and progress to the society, he added.
He also appreciated the Naga Mothers Association for their role in promoting peace and harmony in the State.
