NH asks Nagas to share water

Dimapur, July 9 (MExN): Normally associated only with political statements, nonetheless, the Naga Hoho today appealed to all “water source owners in every district” to be kinder in thought, and in action and share the water with those that suffer from having none. A Naga Hoho statement explained, “Water is the most essential element for human survival.”
“The Naga Hoho fervently appeals to all the water source owners in every District Headquarters to be more humane in their approach and thinking and generously provide safe drinking water to fellow citizens in the villages and towns. Let’s make every township in Nagaland a model, better and attractive place to live in with bountiful water sources,” the apex Naga tribal organization said.
The organization explained the importance of water by stating that to establish a settlement in any place, people first look for availability of water in that particular area.
The organization referred to Kohima town, a town known in the recent times more for its water scarcity problems. “We understand the problem is not easy which can not solve within a short period of time and need huge budget for it, but should we leave this problem as it is for the sake of budget? We are fully convinced that the bigger problems lay with the so-called water source owners with age-old traditional concept,” the ‘hoho’ said.
