Dimapur, September 14 (MExN): With the aim of addressing the challenges faced by students of arts, commerce, science and social work streams, NIIT Dimapur center organised free seminars in colleges of Dimapur namely MGM College, SD Jain Girl’s College, School of Engineering & Technology (SET) & NEISSR (North-East institute of Social Sciences & Research).
A press release issued by Daniel Changkiri, Head of Center, NIIT Dimapur center stated that Subhasish Sarkar, Area Manager, East Networks, NIIT Ltd was the resource person who interacted with more than 500 students in four sessions on September 12 at the respective colleges.
He spoke about the changing industry perspectives and the need for the youth to adapt to the new age careers opportunities. Hindustan Times had recently published that only 22% graduates are employable as the industries undergo the churning to adapt to the digital transformation.
Digitization is the thrust of every industry as the Government of India emphasizes on Digital India. Data Analytics, Digital Marketing, Full Stack, MEAN stack, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Virtual Reality, Finance & Banking, Internet of Things (IoT) are the emerging new age careers for which youth need to re-skill themselves to meet the needs of the industries in various sectors. Jobs of postman, drivers, bankers etc are getting obsolete with the adaptation of the new technologies. Robots are replacing human beings in many spheres. As such, changing world demands different kind of technology driven manpower across the industries for which undergraduates need to prepare simultaneously with their studies.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Sethi, Director, NIIT Dimapur center, alerted the students about the possible phase wise reduction of governmental workforce in Nagaland owing to the instructions of the govt. of India to reduce the overall expenditure on manpower which comprises of 60% of the annual budget. So also, the ever-increasing unemployment, which stands at 1 lakh currently, is a time bomb waiting to explode.
Earlier, Sarkar held a session with the bank job aspirants at NIIT Dimapur center on September 11. Mughato Sumi, Placement Executive, NIIT Dimapur motivated the youth to prepare better for the emerging job opportunities.
