NLA Dy Speaker responds to TR

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 30 (MExN): Deputy Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Sharingain Longkumer today informed that the NLA has not received any official intimation from the office of the Chief Minister, on the desire to represent the JLF/PWC on the Naga Political issue before the Central Government.

The Deputy Speaker issued this clarification in response to questions posed to the Speaker’s office by Leader of the Opposition, TR Zeliang recently.

A press release from the Deputy Speaker stated that as far as the office of the Speaker/Deputy Speaker is concerned, the resolution passed by the JLF on August 7 stands.

With regard to the delay in convening a meeting of the JLP, the Deputy Speaker informed that scheduled meeting on October 4 was postponed till further notice at the last minute on the suggestion of the Governor.

“He had fixed a meeting with NPF legislators on the same date. Thereafter, two dates i.e. October 7 or 9 were proposed to your office for the JLF meeting, which was confirmed in the negative since NPF Legislators were due to participate in the reorganisation of the NPF party in Arunachal Pradesh,” the Deputy Speaker informed. Subsequently, he added that the CM and some Cabinet Ministers had to be away in Delhi “for official work.”
