The Dimapur District Task Force (DTF) has put on hold a proposal to enforce total lockdown in Dimapur. The recent detection of cases outside of quarantine centres has had the rumour mill going about a likely lockdown in Dimapur soon.
However, a member of the DTF told The Morung Express this evening that there is no consensus on the question of a total lockdown. “It was discussed today at the DTF meeting. But consensus could not be had because opinions differed,” said the official.
According to him, the proposal for total lockdown was put forward by the district health authority a few days back on grounds of enabling more efficient contact tracing.
On the resumption of business at Hongkong Market and New Market, the official said that the DTF can only recommend and the final say is with the higher authorities.
