Quarter at WSBAK resource centre inaugurated

The Western Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu (WSBAK) has inaugurated its Supervisor’s Quarter at its Resource Centre located at Nihokhu village. The building was dedicated by WSBAK Executive Secretary, Rev Dr Hevukhu Achumi and inaugurated by Commissioner & Secretary, Government of Nagaland, Y. Kikheto Sema, IAS on January 3.
Speaking during the programme, Kikheto said a resource centre for the Church association was a long felt need and expressed happiness that it has been fulfilled and development of various infrastructures started.
Kikheto said in a Christian dominated state like Nagaland, there was no organization as strong and influential as the Church organization and added numerous social roles besides preaching the gospel of salvation could be played by the Church. “This resource centre could become a centre of excellence,” he said emphasizing on organizing various seminars and symposiums by inviting experts in various fields to train the people at the Centre.
He also called for replicating the Impur style of allotting plot of land for each of its 168 Church units to build an infrastructure. “Our present style of organizing conferences in villages on rotation wise is consuming a lot of resources not only of the hosts but also the Church units. Therefore, it will save huge resources if all general conferences and programme are held here at this Centre,” he said. Kikheto said all Church units could construct building at their allotted plots and camp there whenever there is any conference.
Stating that many pastors on their retirement are left high and dry with no pension or gratuity system, Kikheto said the resource centre could also find explore alternatives for the retired pastors and utilize their services at the same time.
He called upon the Church to pray for peaceful solution to the Naga political problem and expressed the hope that the New Year would usher in real peace and prosperity.
He lauded Rev. Dr. Hevukhu under whose leadership the resource centre became a reality. During the programme, Chairman of WSBAK, Er Ahoto Zhimo presented a brief report on the construction of the building at the Centre measuring 70 acres.
A host of WSBAK staff, Church leaders and public leaders attended the programme.
