DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 12 (MExN): The Nagaland Village Guards (NVG) of Noklak Village celebrated their Golden Jubilee on September 11 at the Noklak Village Guard Post. The event marked 50 years of dedicated service to the community and the nation.

MLA P. Longon, the Special Guest at the celebration, reflected on the history of the Village Guards, recalling their formation in Pangsha and the challenges faced during their early years. He praised their exemplary service and urged them to continue their commitment to the community and the state.

As part of the celebration, Longon unveiled the Jubilee Monolith and launched a commemorative souvenir, which was dedicated by Munno, the Literature and Education Secretary of the Khiamniungan Baptist Churches Association.

SDO (Civil) Noklak, Vikhoto Richa, acknowledged the Village Guards' key role as the backbone of district administration and commended their unwavering service to the nation. He called on them to maintain their loyalty and dedication.

Commandant Mongoyanchu, IPS, of NVG Tuensang, emphasized the importance of training for Village Guards, particularly on new criminal laws, suggesting village-based sessions for easier access. Assistant Commandant Noklak, Nokchem L, praised the Village Guards as an asset to society, highlighting their contributions during natural disasters and urging them to remain vigilant in their service.

Tributes were also paid to the pioneers of the Village Guards by Head GBs Khusho of Noklak Village and Ngon of Kusong Village, as well as the Convenor of the Planning Committee, Shai. They encouraged current personnel to continue their outstanding work.

The event was chaired by Jeolam and Chongkoi K, with a welcome speech delivered by Hav. Maj. L. Bumeng, Post Commander of Noklak Village Guard. Musical performances by the Thang Students' Union and Kusong Thsamve Hoikam, along with a rendition of the Christian hymn "Rock of Ages" by the Frontier Pipe Band of the Nagaland Village Guard, added to the celebration.

The day concluded with a vote of thanks from S. Panpan, Chairman of the Noklak Village Council. A special prayer for the Village Guards was held at Baptist Church Thang during the evening service. Presentations were given to both the pioneers and current serving personnel, marking the close of the jubilee celebrations.
