Nokmachier conferred Samarthya Award 2020
Nokmachier L Jamir was conferred with Samarthya Award 2020 in Bangalore on March 7.
Dimapur, March 16 (MExN): Nokmachier L Jamir, a 23 year old Person with Disabilities from Nagaland was conferred with Samarthya Award 2020 at Bangalore on March 7.
In recognition of his excellence in art, Nokmachier was conferred the award by the Samarthya Award Committee, Caritas India (CI) CBR Forum from Bangalore.
Nokmachier from Ungma village was born with hearing problems but he persued his studies in Deaf Biblical Ministry, Dimapur, and passed the HSLC examination.
His talent in fine arts took him to greater level of recognition. He bagged the first runner-up at Hornbill Open Art Competition for Specially Abled Person in 2019. He also participated in state level wall painting competition under Pradhan Mantra Awas Yojana Housing implemented by Municipal Affairs Department, Government of Nagaland.
At present, Nokmachier is enrolled under DPO Ungma looked after by CBR project under Care and Support Society, Mokokchung. Nokmachier plans to do further studies and also pursue a diploma course in fine arts.
