Kohima (MExN): The implementation of 25,000 job opportunities for the unemployed youth of the state as announced by the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee during his visit to Kohima in 2003, has not been received well by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

Rio recently told a public function that he was a little upset that “the scheme is yet to take off till date, because we had depended heavily on this scheme while announcing the Year of Youth Empowerment.”

However, as a launching pad to implement this scheme, a workshop sponsored by the Ministry of DONER will be held on January 30 and 31, 2006 at Kohima.

He said on the basis of the recommendations of this workshop, an action plan for creation of 25,000 job opportunities will be formulated and implemented soon.

It may be recalled that there are over 40,000 educated unemployed in the state. Job opportunities in the government sector have reached their saturation point. The need to involve in the self-employment activities has been stressed from time to time.
