A four-day long North East NSS (National Service Scheme) Festival 2019 concluded today at RCEMPA, Jotsoma under the theme “Step up empowering young minds.”
Gracing the closing function, Alun Hansing, secretary Youth Resources & Sports said that the role and responsibility of NSS volunteer has become significantly important in fostering the spirit of unity in diversity.
He said that the NSS, formed 50 years ago is a public oriented service programme under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.
He said the main aim of NSS is to arouse and inculcate social consciousness of the youth with objective to develop personality through community service thereby enabling students to participate in various programmes of social services and help develop national integration.
NSS from all the north eastern states joined the festival.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by Dziesebeituo while Pradip Mahajan highlighted the account of the festival. NSS from Mizoram presented a cultural dance. The function was chaired by Neikepelie Shunyii while vote of thanks was proposed by State NSS officer Zeneikho-o Pfukha.
