Now diesel over Rs 100 in 8 districts of Nagaland

Rates up nearly 6 rupees in October; Rs 26.58 since May

With fuel rates hiking for the fourth consecutive day, diesel was retailing at above Rs 100 per litre in 8 districts of Nagaland on October 23.  Only in four districts- Wokha, Kohima, Peren and Dimapur, a litre of diesel was selling below the psychological Rs 100-a-litre mark on Saturday.

With Saturday’s hike, petrol has increased by around nearly Rs 5 a litre in October, while diesel is costlier by nearly Rs 6.

As per database maintained by The Morung Express based on IndianOil One App, in exactly 20 days since October 3, petrol price has increased by Rs 4.71 per litre while diesel price is up by Rs 5.23.  According to PTI news agency, the total increase in rates of petrol since early May till October 23 was Rs 36 per litre while that of diesel is Rs 26.58.

In Tuensang where fuel is most expensive, petrol and diesel were retailing at Rs 108.99 and 101.13 respectively on Saturday.

In Dimapur, petrol was going for Rs 105.61 while diesel was retailing at Rs 98.12 a litre on October 23. Dimapur is cheapest location to buy fuel in Nagaland.

As per the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Gas, while the retail prices of fuel are fixed by the oil marketing companies (OMCs) on the basis of 15 days rolling average price of petrol and diesel in the international market, there is also an impact by the rupee dollar exchange rate.

Several others factors determine the final retail prices including central and state taxes including cess, dealer’s commission, and freight charges, and as a result, prices differs across states or regions.
