NPC welcomes ceasefire extension

The Nagaland Peace Center, Kohima welcomes the extension of ceasefire between the Government of India and NSCN (IM) for another period of six months and hopes that it would be maintained and elevated it to a higher standard of understanding and cooperation by both sides involved.

As the ceasefire promises peace to the people of Nagaland in an attempt to finding an honorable and acceptable solution to the political problem.

The Nagaland Peace Center is also desirous to see that in the interest of the India and Nagas, the two sides work in such a way as to strengthened Political forces for peace on both sides and diminish the sanction of Military forces for the policies and activities such as tax collection, operation killing and abduction.

The Nagaland Peace Center deeply appreciates that it was the political magnanimity and the intension of the Indian leaders like Prime Minister Jawarharlal Nehru and former Prime Minister Deve Gowda, Late P.V. Narhasimha Roa, Atal Behari Vajpajee and the Prime Minister Dr. Man Mohan Singh and his Government to effect  an exchange of the military measures against the Nagas for political engagement with the Nagas and for the continuing effort and prolonging ceasefire to resolve in finding out solution to Nagas problem.

We also appeal to both parties to carry out peace policy for peace talk on Naga problem by protecting the peaceful and innocent Nagas from the cruel hands of ceasefire violators.

Integration of the Naga areas is the aspiration of the Naga people. Until this is made into a reality, it will always remain in the hearts of the people. This is very delicate and sensitive issue and to deal with people’s thoughts and aspirations, enough time and patience is needed to find a solution.

We also wish to see real peace coming to our land and people through talks and offering thanksgiving services and prayers.

In the name of Nagaland Peace Center, Kohima
