Kohima, September 30 (MExN): The Minority Department of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has condemned the alleged physical assault on its Vice-Chairman in connection with a land dispute and called for an impartial investigation into the incident.
In a press note issued on September 30, the department said while it had no involvement in the underlying land dispute and was not taking sides on the matter, its concern was limited to the reported assault.
Any dispute should be addressed through legal and administrative processes, it added, urging the district administration and law enforcement authorities to investigate the reported incident and take appropriate action against those found responsible.
It also appealed to all parties involved to exercise restraint, maintain peace and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
The Minority Department reiterated that its condemnation of the reported assault should not be construed as support for either side in the dispute and called for a fair and transparent inquiry into the matter through the appropriate legal and administrative mechanisms.
