Dimapur, July 27 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) supports the Nagaland Cabinet’s decision to recommend to the Government of India an autonomous council for the four eastern districts of Nagaland. A special meeting of the NPF central leadership was convened on July 27 in Kohima.
“In view of certain historical background and considering that the area is comparatively less developed , creating an autonomous council for the four districts will grant them authority to administer the area which is the best possible arrangement for their all-round development,” a note from the NPF’s “resolution committee” stated today. “While reiterating the policy of the party to stand against any force to further divide the Nagas, the central office bearers resolved that the granting of autonomy to the four districts is an upfront step in the right direction.”
