Dimapur, December 30 (MExN): For a year that saw generally much of corruption, extortion and killings and fear for the people, the Naga People’s Front (NPF) is still convinced that the year 2011 has ended “with much to appreciate.” A note from the party’s media cell nonetheless said to “prayerfully work towards making the year 2012 a year worthy of God’s favorable answer to the decades old struggle and desire of the people for a meaningful life based on unity and a harmonious atmosphere conducive for development and progress.”
“As we get ready to embrace the New Year, let us prayerfully work towards making the year 2012 a year worthy of God’s favorable answer to the decades old struggle and desire of the people for a meaningful life based on unity and a harmonious atmosphere conducive for development and progress,” the party said.
According to the NPF, year 2011 “has virtually come to end with much to appreciate.” However, there are also “things” and “certain issues” to “ponder over,” it says. In one good length the party explained: “The Nagas as a whole, under the collective efforts of the religious bodies, NGOs, the civil societies from state to grass root levels including the myriad of communities and the Underground groups; uniting under the aegis of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation, truly strived towards paving way for a permanent solution of the Indo-Naga Peace process, with the DAN government playing the active role of facilitator involving all members of NLA under the joint legislators forum.”
The NPF also called It “unfortunate” that the “recently split NSCN groups” continue to confront each other ignoring the yearning of the people “for a peaceful atmosphere and in total contravention to the commitment for reconciliation and unity.”
‘It is the onus of every responsible individual or group to seriously examine the situation, taking trouble, engaging our thoughts in the most methodical and logical sequence and to commend on the ugly, self-defeating acts of clashes rather than shifting blame on any individual, group or authority as though the benefit of the struggle for a harmonious atmosphere that we are striving for is just for a few select group of people...” the NPF explained.
The NPF wishes all a very happy, peaceful and prosperous New Year.
