NPF hit back on Congress’ remove-CM charge

Dimapur April 28 (MExN): The NPF, reacting to the Congress seeking removal of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Minister Dr Shurhozelie, has termed the statement of the opposition as naïve and inconsequential.

While acknowledging that in a parliamentary democracy like India, every citizen has the right to express views, the NPF, however made clear that the statements made by either of the Ministers amounted to “unconstitutional” and as such does not express “lack of faith in the electoral system” under the election Commission of India as charged by the opposition.

Brushing aside the matter of removal of either the Chief Minister or Dr Shurhozelie  the NPF through N Chuba Yimchunger, Associate Press Secretary, stated that the “two were constitutionally and legally elected by the people through elections as per the wishes of the electorate” and therefore the question of removal does not arise.

The NPF also taking note of the Congress’ statement that people are not acknowledging their (the NPF’s) achievements but instead wants “real development” to benefit them, hit back maintaining that “the congress people may not be acknowledging but the people of Nagaland not only acknowledge but reciprocate the DAN Government for undertaking various developmental activities.”

Regarding the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Jawaharlal Nehru Urban renewal Mission schemes (JNURMS), the NPF clarified that they are meant exclusively for the capitals of five North East India states and Kohima being Nagaland’s capital was also included. “And if Kohima develops, the people of Nagaland should be happy because Kohima is our capital, it is our mirror” the NPF asserted.
