In commemoration of 75 years of India's independence, Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) Mokokchung District under the aegis of National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) organised an awareness programme at Jubilee Memorial College, Mokokchung on February 23.
The awareness programme was based on blood donation, HIV and AIDS, and Tuberculosis.
Makshi DPO, DAPCU, spoke on the importance of blood donation, how to donate, health benefits of donation, who can donate blood and various other topics related to blood donation.
Awareness on HIV and AIDS: Basic facts about HIV. Routes of Transmission, Window period, Prevention and Treatment was given by Tiayula, District Programme Manager for OVC (Orphan and Vulnerable Children)
Imcharen, Senior Treatment Supervisor talked about prevention of TB and the benefits of Nikshay Poshan Yojana, a government scheme focused on the prevention of TB.
Smoke free district headquarters campaign awareness of tobacco use and its ill effects was also shared by Nungsangwati, Consultant, District Tobacco Control Cell, Mokokchung.
Makshi, DPO, DAPCU highlighted on an online video making and poster making competition for college students on the theme HIV, TB and Blood Donation where all students can participate. Interested students can submit their entries before March 7, 2022 at NSACS office, Mokokchung.
