DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 3 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) today condemned a raid conducted by the Assam Rifles on December 3 at “the rented houses of NSCN members” at Kuda Village, Nagarjan and NST Colony, City Tower area, Dimapur. A press release from the MIP of the NSCN (IM) further informed that one Ninghor was arrested from NST Colony.
This incident, the NSCN (IM) alleged, shows the “Assam Rifles’ (AR) grudge against NSCN (National Socialist Council of Nagalim)” which it stated is “testified in numerous incidents.”
The NSCN (IM) further claimed that the AR is “emboldened to go against the NSCN following the Cease Fire Monitoring Group (CFMG) Chairman, Lt Gen (Retd) Shokin Chauhan’s communication (letter) to the Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, GoI on October 30, 2019 regarding closure of messes/offices of Naga political groups (NPGs) which is strongly objected by the NSCN.”
It questioned the CFMG Chairman as to what “plot was hatched between the AR and CFMG Chairman following this communication.” It further questioned “what is the hurry for the AR to go after NSCN when the final touches are being work out to solve the Naga political issue?”
The NSCN (IM) said that such situations put the sincerity of the talks between the two entities at stake. “Is it the policy to chase the Nagas away further?” it posed.
The NSCN (IM) further termed it unfortunate that this incident took place “despite the Cease Fire Monitoring Cell of the NSCN having intimated to the CFMG Chairman to establish a corrective measure from his end and the Indian armed personnel after the Kohima and other incidents of Cease Fire Ground Rules (CFGR) violations committed by the Indian security forces against NSCN members.”
