DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 28 (MExN): The NSCN-K (Khango), following numerous complaints from the general public and various civil society organizations regarding the late-night operation of nightclubs, pubs, lounges, restaurants, hotels, discotheques, bootlegging, and related immoral activities within Dimapur, has issued an immediate cessation of such illegal activities.
According to a MIP release, the Kilo (Home) Ministry of NSCN- K (Khango) directed these establishments to operate only until 10 PM in the larger interest of the common people.
The NSCN- K (Khango) also expressed dismay over the state government's and local security forces' lackadaisical attitude, which turns a deaf ear and blind eye to these illegal activities, thereby failing to control them. This situation has prompted the NSCN-K (Khango) to issue this press statement once and for all, it asserted.
The NSCN-K (Khango) also voiced deep concern over the presence of underage boys and girls, especially students in uniforms, in establishments involved in immoral activities. The organization stated it will monitor these activities regularly and seeks cooperation from all concerned.
Firecracker ban
In addition, it announced a total ban on the selling and bursting of all types of firecrackers in and around Dimapur during this festive season with immediate effect. This decision was made after taking serious note of the harmful effects of firecrackers, which cause air contamination, health hazards, and noise pollution. Such disturbances can exacerbate pre-existing health issues in patients related to heart, cancer, respiratory, and nervous systems, potentially leading to outbreaks like coronavirus and monkeypox in mainland India, the MIP release stated.
Moreover, the NSCN-K (Khango) highlighted the disturbance caused to students as their final examinations approach. It warned that failure to abide by its directive will result in stern action against defaulters, as envisaged in the ‘Yehzabo,’ to combat unethical practices and curb anti-social activities in all Naga-inhabited areas.
