Dimapur, December 28 (MExN): The NSCN-Khaplang today served a caution to the vice president of the Sumi Hoho, Kitoho Rotokha, allegedly for ‘misusing the Sumi Hoho’s office to serve factional interest’ and being an ‘outspoken activist of Khehoi camp’ (NSCN-Khole/Kitovi). The NSCN Khaplang issued a statement asking the Sumi public leader to resign immediately or face “dire consequences.”
A note from the MIP of the NSCN/GPRN-Khaplang received here today asserted that it has served the public leader ‘repeated reminders’ to desist from “misusing esteemed Sumi Hoho’s office merely to serve factional interest.”
“The person under scanner has exceeded his official obligation and without doubt become an outspoken activist of Khehoi camp,” the NSCN/GPRN stated. “It is thus imperative on the part of the NSCN/GPRN to issue this final notice and ask Kitoho Rotokha to immediately resign from Sumi Hoho so as to cease mis-leading the Sumi’s or face dire consequences. Kitoho Rotokha shall henceforth be treated as Khehoi campers and not Sumi Hoho’s vice-president.”
The NSCN/GPRN said that, the NSCN-IM has been running Ghathashi designated camp as per the ceasefire agreement with GOI since 1997. Likewise, the NSCN under SS Khaplang’s leadership since the signing of the “armistice” with the Government of India in the year 2001 has been maintaining Suruhuto designated camp as per the bilateral agreement.
“Well aware that ceasefire is between the two NSCN’s and GOI, for the last one decade of tumultuous factional situations between the NSCN-K and NSCN-IM particularly in Zunheboto district, there had been no question of removal of designated camps of NSCN’s from Zunheboto district.
The Sumi Hoho, frontal Sumi organisations or even the general Sumi public never bothered to interfere in the issues pertaining to ceasefire,” the NSCN/GPRN stated.
In the stated backdrop, the MIP questioned, “Why the Sumi Hoho out of the blue should lobby for removing designated camps of two NSCN’S from Zunheboto district. Why would the Sumi Hoho remain silent for the last ten years in connection to NSCN’S designated camps and why would the Sumi Hoho pursue for removal of designated camps from Zunheboto only in the year 2011?”
The NSCN/GPRN accused Kitoho Rotokha ‘misguided’ the Sumi Hoho to “facilitate establishment of Khehoi’s designated camp unnecessarily and irrelevantly implied removal of NSCN’S designated camps at Ghathashi and Suruhuto.” When the government of India approved designated camps for Khehoi camp in Ghukiye village under Zunheboto, the MIP stated, the Sumi Hoho “despite vociferous campaign” to remove all designated camps in Zunheboto, chose to remain silent.
“However, when in retaliation to unprovoked firings by Khehoi camp, the NSCN conducted pre-emptive strike at the Khehoi gang’s proposed designated camp in Ghukiye and prevented the initial preparation to establish the camp the hoho once again revived its agenda for removal of NSCN’s designated camps in Zunheboto district.”
The NSCN/GPRN claimed further that “series of inquiries has already been initiated and it has been established beyond doubt” that the Sumi Hoho’s stand “does in no manner represent the collective will or decision of the Sumis or for the matter even does not reflect the unanimous affirmation of the hoho’s constituents.”
