Dimapur, December 1 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN (Khaplang) has expressed grief at the demise of internationally known poet, writer, philanthropist, social worker and a passionate peace activist, Indira Raisom Goswami.
A statement from the MIP stated that Goswami had been instrumental in brokering peace between the ULFA and GOI and setting up of People's Consultative Group where she was appointed as Advisor. “Through her sincere and tireless efforts as the intermediary, the peace process could have been successfully translated into reality,” the MIP stated; It added that her concern towards the uplift of humanity had well been exemplified through scores of landmark and trendsetting developmental projects funded from her own earnings.
The MIP stated that Goswami’s departure is an irreplaceable loss not only to India, but the international community and in particular the people of North East India and Assam. “The NSCN/GPRN and the Nagas as struggling people has lost a great noble soul and we grieve equally with the people of Assam and her family at this hour of mourning,” the note added.
