NSCN-Khaplang on current situation

Dimapur, December 30 (MExN): The NSCN-Khaplang today said that the “recent spurt in violence in several pockets of Nagaland indeed has to do with non-observance of CFGR by Khehoi gang.” It stated that “The Khehoi gang’s unilateral abrogation of ‘Covenant of Reconciliation’ was the flash point that led to ignition of the ongoing armed clashes, loses of precious lives and injuries to several innocent civilians.”

A note from the MIP asserted that “The brazen repeated attacks on proposed NSCN, CFSB sub-office on 19thDec.2011 at Naharbari, Dimapur by Khehoi gang served as the catalyst. The act was not only a gross violation of CFGR but detract of commitment to the COR. The prevailing tension particularly in Zunheboto district is a direct outcome of the illegal militarization of civilian populated area of Amiphoto colony (Zunheboto town) by Khehoi gang since the past five-six months.”

The MIP also alleged that “quite contrary to the assertion to uphold CFGR, the Khehoi gangs rather than being evicted is being provided with round the clock security blanket by Assam Rifle’s, IRB’s and civil societies ever since deterioration of situation.”

On the other hand, “the NSCN.K and NSCN-IM are not even permitted to station around the villages or town’s vicinities,” the note lamented. To restore normalcy, the note said, the “Khehoi gang” should be asked to immediately vacate Amiphoto and return to it’s designated camp. “If not both the NSCN’s (K and IM) have every right to maintain status-quo in Zunheboto town and the district as per the ceasefire agreement with GOI and the ‘COR’ as well.

It further said “civil societies may also understand the fact that NSCN’s designated camps are exclusively a matter pertaining to NSCN’s and GOI ceasefire arrangement. The necessity of such camps at certain convenient locations is purely to expedite peace and political process. The civil societies thus may restrain itself from unnecessary meddling in the hitherto peaceful existences of the designated camps.”

NSCN Khaplang on Kma shooting

Dimapur, December 30 (MExN):
The NSCN/GPRN-Khaplang today clarified its position on the December 29 shooting in Kohima that left three civilians, including a small boy, injured.

The NSCN/GPRN-Khaplang said it “would like to clarify it’s position so that ill will may not be cast upon NSCN owing to mis-informations.” A note from the MIP stated that “The incident was purely an unprovoked drunken display of firepower on innocent bystanders out of desperation by Khehoi criminals and the NSCN cadre assaulted upon did not fire a single shot in retaliation.

When the NSCN cadre escaped coolly and unhurt, the attackers comprising of lt.Nikhuvi, 2nd lt.Isak, sgt.maj.Hotoshe resorted to indiscriminate firing all over,” the note asserted.

The note also said that the “Khehoi campers” should “make public apology and vacate Kohima once and for all, so that public peace and security may not be threatened in future.” It stated “The Nagas may therefore judge for themselves, the actual aggressors and the genuine Naga national workers.”
