NSCN (Khaplang) reaffirms commitment to Reconciliation

DIMAPUR, JULY 2 (MExN): The National Socialist Council of Nagaland Khaplang has issued a press note reaffirming its commitment to the Covenant of Reconciliation. A press note from its MIP stated that the “present Unification and Reconciliation process has been initiated and spearheaded by the NSCN/GPRN led by S.S. Khaplang” and that “despite several provocations the NSCN/GPRN has weathered all this inimical and destructive forces”. The press note went on to state that since the inception of the process till date “the NSCN/GPRN is fully committed to uphold the ‘Covenant of Reconciliation’ attended by the highest authorities of the concerned entities”.
“Till the 7th June 2011, there had been no instance of Khaplang’s unwillingness or aversion to the Peace process except that Kehoi campers in order to mislead the Nagas and serve their own selfish interest hatched a plot to discredit Khaplang’s leadership; by merely concocting a story which has no validity is not supported by any facts or reason”, stated the press note. The NSCN Khaplang also pointed out that the “Kehoi campers mostly comprises of habitual defectors who were also very self apprehensive when the Naga Reconciliation gained momentum” and stating that this in “itself is evident in their testimony of changing loyalties every now and then as and when the situation suits them”.
“They have no courage to face Isak Muivah or SS Khaplang, under whose leadership they have been serving.
Therefore to escape the embarrassment of having to face their own cowardice and disloyalty they misguided N.Kitovi Zhimomi and Gen. Khole to form a new ‘government’ through unjustified and unconstitutional impeachment of SS Khaplang”, the press note claimed. The MIP note went on to claim that the “this impeachment was carried out by a mere handful of ‘workers” and that these “workers’ were consigned to Kehoi a camp which in fact is non but the designated camp of the NSCN (K)”.
It went on to affirm that under the leadership of SS Khaplang it was “still resolute in its commitment to the peace process now being led by the FNR and will continue to be an ardent advocate of peaceful Reconciliation and Unification”. “Therefore the issue of Khaplang’s aversion to Peace and Reconciliation is entirely untrue and baseless”, it stated. “We would like the Nagas to ask the Kehoi campers, upon what historical and political foundation they claim to represent the Nagas? What kind of government and by whose mandate have they come into being? The Naga people should also ask the Kehoi campers, where their Council Headquarter or General Headquarter or Regional authorities are”, stated the MIP note.
Pointing out that the “Kehoi campers are merely a collection of desperados who forcefully wrested the NSCN (K) camp at Kehoi and are now trying to befool the Nagas to pay them taxes, contributions etc so that they can continue to enrich their coffers and carry on with their business activities specially in and around Dimapur by using NSCN (K) designated camp at Kehoi as their safe haven”.
However it went on to state that “in no time their illegal occupation will soon come to a defeating end since they have no official recognition or status either in the political historical ramp on the Nagas struggle nor with the Government of India”. “The Nagas may also be enlightened on their agendas if any and if the consent of the Nagas has been acquired for the very existence of such a group of individuals gathered at Kehoi”.
The MIP note stated that “these ‘collection of people’ incepted on the 7th June 2011, are now desperately trying to claim legitimacy by trying to wrest out the NSCN/GPRN designated camps at other places also”. “If these diabolical trends continue, the NSCN/GPRN in order to protect the sanctity and dignity of the Nagas struggle will be compelled to initiate defensive measures to repulse the intruders. In the event of any eventuality, let it be known to the Nagas that NSCN/GPRN holds no responsibility”.
It stated that since the last 5/6 decades of the Nagas struggle there has never been any instance of SS Khaplang’s opposition to the Nagas Unity and Reconciliation. It also clarified that the NSCN/GPRN under SS Khaplang’s leadership will pursue political dialogue with the Government of India only on formal invitation from the same. “Therefore the allegation that SS Khaplang is not interested in starting political dialogue with the Government of India to resolve the Indo Naga political issue is a complete distortion of truth”, it stated.
