NSCN (R) festival greetings

Dimapur, August 5 (MExN): The NSCN (Reformation) Akato Chophi has conveyed ‘Metemneo and Biam’ greetings to the Yimkhiung and Khiamniungan Nagas which is celebrated during August 4-8 (Metemneo) and August 7 (Biam). 

The MIP in a press note stated that Metemneo is celebrated with much fanfare after the harvest of millet, and during this festival, Yimkhiung people also offers prayers for the departed ones. The festival is spread over 5 days, with each day distinctly known as – Shito, Zhinto, Zumto, Khehresuk and Sheresuk.

Biam festival is also celebrated by the Khiamniungan people on August 7 and the rituals performed during this festival reflect the rich cultural heritage of the Khiamniungan people, which is worth appreciating for.

“Through the celebration of these happy and meaningful festivals, may the 'Yimkhiung and Khiamniungan' people continue to thrive and excel in various fields and also be the forerunner in promoting peace among the Nagas,” it added.
