NSCN/GPRN decries AR raids in Mon

Dimapur, July 3 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN (Isak-Muivah) denounces Assam rifles and the Territorial Army conducting raids in Tizit under Mon district.  The publicity wing of the organization said the sixth Assam Rifles, under the command of a Col. Sarma is conducting joint operations since July 2 against the group’s cadres of ‘Songson battalion’ at Tizit in Mon. “The AR and Territorial Army numbering around 350 are taking part in the operation. They have come from Maiipla, Sivasagar district, Mon, Tizit and Nagimora. Under the prevailing situation with ceasefire still in operation this is highly provocative,” the organization’s ‘MIP stated today.
“Under the prevailing situation with ceasefire still in operation this is highly provocative. But a time may come when Naga Army will have to give a proper reply as expected from any army when provocation reach beyond the level of any excuse as often done by AR,” the NSCN/GPRN stated.
Ever since the Indo-Naga ceasefire was declared on August 1, 1997, the Assam Rifles has been restlessly “rubbing the NSCN on the wrong side,” the organization stated. The Home Ministry of the Government of India has failed to rein in the AR “for acting in contrary to the ceasefire regulation,” the note stated.
The NSCN is also seriously observing the AR “going hyper active” in the Naga areas in Manipur’s Tamenglong, Ukhrul and Senapati and “apprehending NSCN cadres under slightest pretext to be handed over to the Manipur government.” “This is not a good indication,” the note added.
