NSLSA conducts Mediation training for judicial officers and advocates

Dimapur, September 16 (MExN): A 5-day long Mediation Training for in-service Judicial Officers, Retired Judicial Officers and advocates of Nagaland was organized by Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) in collaboration with Supreme Court Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC) at Delhi Judicial Academy from September 11 to 15.  

The MCPC Trained Potential Trainers were Harish Dudani, Judge Trainer, B Shrikumare, MCPC Trained Potential Trainer, Sachin Jain, MCPC Trained Potential Trainer, Dr S Padma, MCPC Trained Potential Trainer and Seema Pasricha, MCPC Trained Potential Trainer, a release stated.  

Various topics on conflict management and resolution, mediation process, mediation and conciliation rules, impasse: understanding and management were covered during the training.  

The release also mentioned that mediation is an effective way of resolving disputes outside the courtrooms and involves an independent third party, a mediator who helps both sides come to an agreement.  

Mediation derives its source from section 89 of the Civil Procedure Code which deals with settlement of disputes outside the courts and is one of the forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanism (ADR).
