Dimapur, August 28 (MExN): The Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM), under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), is working to transform its Community Managed Training Centres (CMTCs) into sustainable, community-owned and women-managed multipurpose centres.
The initiative covers 20 CMTCs, of which 17 are currently functional and three are scheduled to be established by the end of the year, with the centres to be managed under Self-Help Group (SHG) Cluster Level Federations (CLFs).
A three-day workshop aimed at advancing the initiative concluded on August 28 at AIDA, Dimapur.
Addressing the gathering, NSRLM Chief Operating Officer M Rollan Lotha called upon CLFs to look beyond the conventional role of CMTCs as training facilities and explore viable business opportunities based on local potential and market demand.
He said the centres could progressively evolve into multipurpose rural business and service centres, creating additional revenue streams for their respective CLFs.
“The vision is to move from CMTCs as training facilities to CMTCs becoming a productive institutional asset of the CLF—one that generates income, creates opportunities and contributes to the sustainability of the federation by 2030,” Lotha said.
He stressed that ownership of the CMTCs must rest firmly with the CLFs, with SHGs and their federations playing a central role in governance, management and enterprise development.
Lotha also highlighted the role of CLF Managers recruited by the federations in nurturing the CMTCs, identifying business opportunities, developing partnerships, improving utilisation of facilities and positioning each centre as a viable multipurpose enterprise.
The initiative is in line with the DAY-NRLM objective of building self-reliant and sustainable women-led institutions and contributes to the broader goal of Viksit Bharat @2047 through empowered rural communities and women-led economic growth, NSRLM said.
The workshop was attended by CLF members and managers along with Area Coordinators of NSRLM.
The training was facilitated by Imonenla Imkong Phom, State Programme Manager, NSRLM, with support from State Resource Persons Amau Francis Pame, Block Programme Manager, Jalukie Block, and Chenton Konyak, Block Programme Manager, Kuhuboto Block.
