Kohima, December 11 (MExN): A four-day workshop on MIS and review and planning of the Livelihoods component of the Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) began on December 10 at DUDA, Kohima.

Addressing the participants during the inaugural session, Athel O Lotha, Secretary RD & Mission Director NSRLM spoke about the NRLM shift of focus towards Livelihoods Enhancement of the SHG members and said that it was imperative for the State Mission to also put intensified efforts towards improving  livelihoods of the poor.

Talking about the achievement of the State Mission in the past  few years since its inception, she highlighted that more than 8000 SHGs, over 400 VLO covering more than 77,000 households  have come under the NRLM fold, which is why the more attention towards improving livelihoods of the SHG members should ensue.

Lotha further stressed on achieving the target of ensuring incremental annual household income for which the livelihoods staff has to work with dedication and sincerity and also, to keep up with the records on  livelihoods and facilitate future activities, livelihoods MIS should also be given due importance.

Lotha called for dedicated participation so that transformation can be brought through enhanced livelihoods interventions.

The participants of the training and planning are District Functional Specialists (DFS), Area Coordinators (Livelihoods) with the State Mission Management Unit staff. Resource persons are NSRLM officials Dr Sokishumo Kithan, State Program Manager (Livelihoods); Renvungo Murry, State Program Manager (MIS); Rajuselie Lhousa, Program Manager (Financial Inclusion) and Epipeni Lotha, Program Manager (Mobilization-DDUGKY).
