NSRLM’s fiber extraction, craft making training underway

Participants learn banana fibre extraction and craft making during the 7-day NSRLM training currently underway at Longmatra Village under Kiphire district.

KIPHIRE, AUGUST 11 (MExN): A seven-day banana fiber extraction and craft making training is currently underway at Longmatra Village under Kiphire district.

The training which started on August 9 is being organised by the Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) Block Mission Managment Unit (BMMU) Longmatra in convergence with the District Administration and DLCW-MSK, Kiphire with KUDATECH Training Centre Dimapur as the training partner.

As per a press release from the unit, during the inaugural programme on August 9,  Atsope Sangtam, BPM, NSRLM BMMU Longmtra said that the objective of the training was to create awareness among the rural people to release from the unit,  the economic values of natural resources available. 

Noting that the trainees will learn new skill on the fiber extraction, preservation, using it for making handicrafts, bio-plates etc, she further encouraged all them to make best use of the training time. 

18 Self-Help Groups members from Longmatra  and Tethuyo Village Level Organizations (VLO) are taking part in the 7-day training. 

The BMMU Longmatra further expressed appreciation to the District Administration and DLCW-MSK Kiphire for sponsoring all the training costs
