To boost entrepreneurial ventures of aspiring scheduled tribes in the North East, a conference on implementation of PMEGP scheme for tribal in North East and honouring tribal entrepreneurs was conducted by National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC) here at Hotel Japfü on October 21. 

NSTFDC in an apex organisation for the economic development of Scheduled Tribes under Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.

This event was designed to give a boost to the lending schemes of NSTFDC and to spur collaborative arrangement with KVIC, and facilitate implementation of flagship Scheme of Central Government, Prime Minster Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).

As part of celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, 75th Anniversary of Indian Independence, NSTFDC felicitated successful tribal entrepreneurs from North East states for their excellence in various entrepreneurship ventures.

Gracing the occasion, Nagaland Tribal Affairs & Higher Education Minister, Temjen Imna Along spoke on the simplicity of tribal way of life and enormous scope of entrepreneurship in Nagaland. He appreciated the efforts of Ministry of Tribal Affairs and NSTFDC in organizing such a programme and emphasized that such types of programmes would boost and motivate budding youth entrepreneurs to take up innovative livelihood activities.

He suggested that more awareness camps should be organized to disseminate the various schemes of Government among the target group and to simplify the rules and procedure for availing benefits under such schemes.

Asit Gopal, CMD of NSTDFC emphasized on taking up sustainable livelihood ventures and thereby motivating youths to be job givers rather than job seekers.

NSTFDC Board members Yatinder Prasad, Joint Secretary and Financial Advisor Anupam Trivedi, Executive Director, TRIFED and Deepika Kispotta, DGM, IDBI were also present on the occasion and felicitated the entrepreneurs.

Dr Sukamal Deb, Deputy CEO, KVIC, North East Zonal Office presented a detailed information about the implementation of PMEGP scheme and MoU signed between NSTFDC and KVIC for implementation of the same for the development of tribals.

Chairman, Mizoram Rural Bank, Managing Directors of Meghalaya Co-operative Apex Bank and Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation were also present and shared their views.

Altogether, 53 successful tribal entrepreneurs in various sectors from the state of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland and Tripura were felicitated during the programme.
