NTTU resolves not to deal with timbers from Peren

Prohibits entry of timbers coming from Peren district to other districts 

Dimapur, January 31 (MExN): The Nagaland Timber Trader's Union (NTTU) on Monday resolved that NTTU members will not deal with timbers whether round logs or sawn timbers from Peren district.

The union in its press release issued by the joint secretary informed that the NTTU unanimously resolved on January 31 that “henceforth, all the members of NTTU shall not deal (sell or purchase) with timbers whether round logs or sawn timbers from Peren district.”

Further, it also resolved that all timbers coming from Peren district shall also be prohibited to enter in the respective district which shall be imposed by its federating, units. 

“The boycott of entrance of timbers (round logs/sawn timbers) from Peren district to other district shall be inforced from the publication of this information till the case is resolved between the CSOs of Peren and NTTU,” it stated. 

The union also informed all the bona-fide members of NTTU on September 27 and 30, 2021, “the Civil Society Organisation of Peren district without any justified reasons has banned the transportation of round logs beyond Peren Districts without taking into consideration the interest of members of NTTU who have invested crore of rupees in purchasing/leasing timbers forest areas in pockets of Peren district.”

“Any members of NTTU found violating this resolution shall be strictly dealt with as per the constitution of NTTU,” it cautioned.
