Medziphema, January 31 (MExN): NU SASRD, Medziphema in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Government of Nagaland organized a virtual practical training on ‘virtual training on ecological farming’ for B.Sc (Agri) 2nd and 3rd year students from January 18 to 25.
A press release received here stated that the basic objective of the training was to disseminate knowledge on ecological farming practices and efficient natural resource management for soil care. It started with an introductory note on the roles and objectives of SPREAD NE.
The training was divided into various sessions which covered topics on local food wisdom, importance of compassionate farming, importance of organic farming, sensitization on the vitality of growing one’s own food and preserving the local seeds. Each session had some practical activities for the students as assignments.
The overall training revolved around preservation and sustenance of our ecological farming system, which proved to be very beneficial and an eye opener for many students who attended the programme. Discussions and feedbacks were encouraged from the participants after every session.
A video clip on ecological farming known as the ‘Food forest’ owned by SPREAD NE Secretary General, Samir Bordoloi, the resource person was shared with the students, wherein he shared experiences on how he started as an Agripreneur.
The programme was chaired by Prof Akali Sema, Dean NU SASRD and facilitated by Prof KK Jha, HoD, Agricultural Extension, while Tatkung gave a feedback on behalf of the student participants. Thereafter, a concluding remark was given by Dean, SASRD.
A total of 60 participants attended the training.
