Wokha, June 29 (MExN): The National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) Wokha observed Anti-malaria month in June under the theme ‘Zero malaria starts with me.’
Dr Thungbemo Patton, DSO Wokha stated that 15 villages were covered under Wokha district based on the prevalence of fever cases and hotspot areas. The main objective was to create awareness and bring maximum behavioral changes in the community for prevention and elimination of malaria, he added.
Wezolo Medo, NVBDCP Consultant Wokha informed that awareness on symptoms, transmission, diagnosis, treatment, reduction of vector and root of delivery of services to the people were conducted in the villages. The villagers were also sensitized on the regular usage of long lasting insecticidal nets and sanitation drives were carried out with the help of villagers, he stated.
A press release from CMO office Wokha stated that due to the COVID-19 crisis, NVBDCP team limited their activities to small gatherings in the villages. Distribution of COVID-19 IEC leaflets, anti pyretic tablets and fever screenings were conducted in all the fifteen villages.
