NVCO stands with ANCSU against misuse of scholarship

Kohima, June 2 (MExN): The Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organization (NVCO) has expressed support and solidarity to All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) in their protest against the misuse of scholarships. The NVCO has termed ANCSU’s protest as “fighting for the welfare of students and a bright future.” President of NVCO Advocate Kezhokhoto Savi said that the misuse of scholarship involving crores of rupees by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Nagaland is not only illegal transactions but it is very shameful and hopes that the State Government “takes up severe actions against all the employees in the department involve in the scholarship loan scam.”

A press release from NVCO media cell stated that it “fully agreed with ANCSU’s demand of Director’s resignation and further questioned the recruitment of the Director as non-indigenous Naga inhabitants.

The NVCO statement also highlighted the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG)’s report (Nagaland) which was tabled before the 13 Nagaland Legislative Assembly(NLA) includes the diversion/suspected misappropriation of scholarship funds under Technical Education department. 

“CAG has asked the department to lodge FIRs against the concerned officials for diversion/suspected misappropriation however no action from the department”, it added.
