Officers called to accomplish vision of government

Wokha | November 25: Chief Minister Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio said officers are the backbone of the government and called for support and co-operation to accomplish the vision of the government, as it has to be implemented through the officers.
Addressing the 1st general conference of the Lotha Gazetted Officer’s Association (LGOA) held today at Tiyi Hall, Cherry Town, Wokha, as the chief guest, Rio urged the officers to be broadminded and should come out of the shell of comfort zone, update mind, knowledge and to act globally and also to consider their assignment as a privilege to serve the people cheerfully.
Maintaining that character becomes an image he said “I want Naga society to be vibrant society having good image and this has to start from the officers,” Rio said putting in more that right attitude will change the society followed by a transformation.
CM graces 1st general conference of LGOAAcknowledging the enhancement of the Lotha community, Rio said Lotha’s progress report is impressively sprouting in various fields.
He asserted that LGOA’s motto “Harnessing oneness” is created at the most needed hour where not only among the Lotha community but oneness is needed by all as oneness can bring change in the society.
While lauding the immense contribution of the Lotha officers, he also poured challenges to the officers to collectively contribute for the upliftment to the less privileged people.
Guest of honor, Minister for Agriculture Dr. Chumben Murry said in the context of Nagas in general, even after 150 years of civilization, Nagas are still at crossroad and is in great need of change and refinement and Info-awareness.
While urging the officers to be the needed agent for change, he also appealed the officers to develop efficient and effective quality to bring positive change in the state.
Murry also acknowledged the certain positive changes taking place in the socio and economic growth in the State he said this has happened because of the many policies adopted by the DAN government.
Thechamo Lotha IPS ADGP, Nagaland in his short speech said that, Officers are equally responsible for the success and failure of the government and appealed to the officers to perform their job honestly and sincerely to fulfill the dreams of the people.
Short speeches were also delivered by Parliamentary Secretary, geology & mining, I & FC, border affairs, Y. Patton and parliamentary secretary, prison, Fire & emergency services, Er. W. Kithan.
The programme was observed by an invocation prayer by Rev. Yankey Patton Ex-State Chaplain, special number was presented by Emilo Kinghen and welcome address was delivered by President LGOA RF Lotha.
Commissioner & Secretary Planning, Mhonbemo Patton delivered key note address and vote of thanks was pronounced by Mhondamo Ovung Chief Engineer, PHED.
The chief minister was accompanied by a host of cabinet ministers, parliamentary secretaries and government officials.
The afternoon session was followed by business hour.
 
LGOA general conference- a new beginning

Wokha | November 25: Terming the 1st general Conference of the Lotha Gazetted Officers’ Association (LGOA), as a game of changer for Naga society and a historic in its own unique way, Mhonbemo Patton, Commissioner & Secretary, Planning in his key note address said the conference is a linkage of new beginning, a new vision for the Lotha officers and in many ways for the Lotha Community and expressed hope to be an agent of change and growth with the journey that began today.
The commissioner secretary acknowledged chief minister for bestowing his generosity beyond materialistic hunger, he also sought for the improvement and up-gradation of Wokha-Bokajan road as for Wokha, Mokokchung and Zunheboto districts and even for other areas of eastern Nagaland, the road will provide shorter and direct access to state’s commercial centre, Dimapur as the road will also enable Nagaland State to harness the much needed revenue passing though rich mineral and agro belt.
With the adoption of the motto, “Harnessing oneness”, Patton said it is resolved upon the officers to safeguard the legitimate rights of all government servants, help each other in distress, promote unity and harmony amongst the LGOA members and more importantly to promote goodwill to all sections of the people of Nagaland.
Mention may be made here that as per the record of P & AR department, it revealed that there are about 560 Lotha officers out of the state total of 6330 where in percentage, it is 8.85 and just marginally above the population percentage share of 8.30.
It is also reported that in the last 5 years, 98 Lothas qualified in the NPSC and most importantly during the corresponding period, 20 Lothas qualified out of 112 posts of NCS and NPS which is a very healthy and encouraging 17.86 percent. LGOA anticipates that the membership will increase with the inclusion of officers belonging to the central government, PSUs, Army, CPOs, Banks and Financial institutions both within the state and outside and All India Service officers of other cadres.
