Kohima, December 16 (MExN): The 9th annual Kohima inter-ward cleanliness competition cum pre-Christmas celebration took place today under the aegis of Kohima Municipal Council (KMC). 

Held under the theme “Say no to single- use plastic," the urban development and municipal affairs advisor Dr. Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire also handed over the cleanest ward award to Ward-10 Officers’ Hill which carried Rs. 50,000, on the occasion.

Ward 13-Lower Chandmari and Ward 18- Para Medical stood second and third place and awarded with Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000 respectively.

M/s. VP Hardware (Keziekie), RS Glass Shop (TCP Gate) and Sports World (Old Taxi Stand) bagged Ist, 2nd and 3rd position in the cleanest shop category.

Kohima Chamber of Commerce & Industries (KCCI) president Medozhatuo Rutsa handed over certificate to five sanitary workers under Swatchh Survekshan 2020. The recipients included; Duokuo-u Dziivichii, Kelhosenuo, Krune Lcho, Bikroi Marak and Rajat Majumdar.

Earlier, Dr. Kire, in his address called upon the residents of Kohima to take cleanliness as daily affair and keep Kohima safe place to live in.

He also called upon the people to develop positive attitude and change Kohima for better.

KCCI president Medozhatuo Rutsa and   Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat (AKMWP) president Neibulie Kiewhuo also spoke at the celebration.

Earlier, KMC administrator Kovi Meyase delivered welcome address and thanked each and every individual for improvement of sanitary system in Kohima over the years.
