Kronu graces PGOF silver jubilee celebration
Kohima, November 14 (MExN): Nagaland Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Neiba Kronu graced the silver jubilee celebration of Pochury Gazetted Officer’s Forum (PGOF) on November 13 last at Meluri Village Council Hall under the theme “Aspire to inspire.”
Formed in 1996 with about 20 officers then, PGOF has 138 members at present.
Speaking on the occasion as the special guest, Kronu congratulated the PGOF for reaching a significant milestone of 25 years.
He encouraged the officers to stay connected to the people and emphasized that it is not only the number of officers that counts but also sincerity and honesty that matters since those that perform can transform the society.
He said PGOF being the enlightened body should act both as the watchdog of any crucial activity that takes place at the local level and the think tank of social change and development.
He made a clarion call to PGOF and public leaders to cooperate with the government for all round development.
Also asking PGOF to actively participate in the programmes and policies of the government, the minister encouraged the Forum to make an investment on human resource and strive for better management of resources – forest, land and river, all of which the Pochury people are blessed with.
He also wanted to see that the Forum initiate a positive scope for the youngsters to compete with the competitive world.
Also attending the programme as special invitee, MLA Yitachu acknowledged the contribution of the officers. He also lauded PGOF members for bringing laurels and recognition to the tribe.
Yitachu also challenged the Pochury officers to give back to the society for a progressive and inclusive growth of the Pochury community.
Earlier, dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Rev Rümatho Nyusou, executive secretary Pochury Baptist Church Council. Er Chirhotho Rasutho, Convenor, Planning Committee chaired the programme while presidential address was delivered by M Rhovisie Nyuwi, president PGOF.
Er Fineson Pojar, member, planning committee took the time to acknowledge dignitaries and all those who involved towards the success of the silver jubilee celebration while Pochury Hoho president Jonpa Jurry also shared greetings.
The celebration also witnessed special songs from Mütsa Kajiri and Rhutsomu Pfithu and folk tunes by Meluri Village Women Society. Ar Wachusie Katiry presented the general secretary’s report while vote of thanks was proposed by Ar Tarachu Pfithu, vice president, PGOF.
Earlier, marking the celebration, a men’s doubles badminton tournament was organized on November 12 with 22 participants. Rhovisie Nyuwi and Tsewatho Nyuwi emerged as champions while Chirhotho Rasutho and Thoshusie Katiry were the runner- ups. Shelly & Chupitho and Thiivisie & Poriitho also reached semi final stage.
